The centennial publication “FUTURE COMETH – Anatolia College 100 Years in Thessaloniki” is a landmark publication developed by Anatolia College and released in conjunction with the exhibitions marking the centennial celebration of the educational institution in Thessaloniki.
This meticulously curated edition spans 400 pages showcasing the entire exhibition material, highlighting the adventurous history of Anatolia College in Thessaloniki. It invites readers to embark on a journey through time of Anatolia College in Thessaloniki with a forward-looking perspective.
Key figures in this journey of self-discovery include inspired members of the administration, courageous educators, and alumni who, through their distinguished contributions, have left their mark in the fields of science, culture, politics, and social life.
The publication includes material from the namesake exhibition, hosted at the Museum of Byzantine Culture from October 4th to December 1st, 2024, under the auspices of H.E. President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou, along with rare and unpublished material.
The anniversary edition is enriched with written work by four members of our dynamic alumni community, each approaching Anatolia College’s “cosmology” through the lens of the four foundational principles: Innovation, Excellence, Social Responsibility, and Inclusion.
- Lia Zourgou ’79, who taught Greek philology at Anatolia High School from 1985 to 2020, describes Innovation as the “courage of the school and its educators to overcome limitations…”
- Zizi Papacharissi ’91, Distinguished Professor of Communication and Political Science at the University of Illinois Chicago, writes about Excellence as “a part of nature and the universe.”
- Journalist Iliana Magra ’12, reflects on the indelible impact of Social Responsibility from the years in Merzifon and how it was put into action.
- Christos Plousios ’67, a retired secondary education teacher and former principal of Anatolia College, explains how Inclusion at Anatolia College created an open and fair learning environment.
This publication stands as a milestone in the anniversary celebrations and will remain part of the school’s history as a reminder of the long journey Anatolia College has traveled and how it will continue to move forward toward its future.
