Trustee

John F. Chapman was appointed Chairman of the Board of Trustees in 1958, bringing new energy and purpose to the role. His connection to Anatolia had deep roots, stemming from his experiences there as an assistant teacher in 1926-1927, after graduating from Grinnell. He later taught at the Harvard Business School and became the executive director of the Harvard Business Review. Chapman fully understood the need for a stronger financial base in the United States, but this would require time and the active involvement of dedicated trustees to develop broader support networks. He appointed new trustee committees with specific responsibilities and sought board members with expertise in corporate management and finance.
