Dr. John Folsom, an academic with excellent education from Boston University, joined Anatolia College in 1961 to strengthen the Greek-American character of the school. One of his most significant achievements as head was the creation of a language laboratory, made possible by a donation from the Arthur Ashley Williams Foundation The Williams Laboratory, the first of its kind in Greece, introduced the latest methods of teaching English, both to beginners and advanced students, using tape recorders and listening booths. Hundreds of recorded programs allowed students of various levels to continue their work in class, with exercises and dialogue practice. Folsom also played a key role in unifying the English departments for boys and girls.
