Following the departure of the Germans, he meticulously cataloged the scattered remains \u2013 some eight thousand volumes \u2013 that friends of the College had managed to save. His dedication extended beyond this initial effort, and his studies in the United States led to his appointment as an assistant professor.<br \/>\nIn 1954, after warnings prompted by his dentist brother&#8217;s charges of pro-Communist leanings, Socrates emigrated to California. There, he continued his successful career in librarianship.<br \/>\nHis enduring love for Anatolia College is a lasting legacy.
